Don't Put Your Mouth Into Action Before Your Brain Is In Gear

10:55 am and as I was walking towards LR1. . there was a group of students in front of the room. Obviously not my students since they will be a bit late today due to some changes in venue. And so I made my way to the Science Informatics bulletin board and ignoring the noise around me from those group of students. I kinda know whose students they were since as mentioned earlier, due to venue change.
As I was reading the article on Open Office pasted on the bulletin board, 2 things happened simultaneously.
One, a boy came standing at the glass door shouted something to his friends(this very group of students) and two, the lecturer of the 9-10 class came out of the room and was already walking towards that glass door. At this moment, there were more noise all these ppl started walking towards the boy muttering something( or rather many things). I was also one of those who contributed to the noise at that time, but it was to call out to my collegue in order to get the room key from her.
So, once the key was in my hands I headed back, trying to manouvre my way through this group of students...hmmm...fine, so they were rushing and it was obvious by this moment that they had to go to another class venue. Then I heard it loud and clear, "Bile PDT masuk jer, kita kena kick!". My head turned to the voice but alas, I couldn't see the face of the girl. All I know was that she was wearing a red baju kurung and black headscarf.
Now, I was rather upset by that comment made by her. I was there, a lecturer, a PDT leacturer to be exact, and that venue was given to me, so I could't help but wonder if that was a deliberate comment made. I believed this girl should have more sense since she's a PST student and supposed to be the creme of the creme...and here she is coming up with such an inconsiderate and bias remark. What if the PDT students were there and heard this remark? Wouldn't it create a tension between these 2 programs? Wouldn't they feel hurt? Even when I heard that, I was really upset.
It disturbs and upsets me when students of this level of education, who are very good in their academic, who are examplary students in their previous schools, who carry a string of As with them have no proper manners. They hardly know the correct way to speak to their lecturers and their peers, they are rather disrespectful towards their lecturers(yes, doing other subjects' work in English class is included here) and like the incident earlier, they are very selfish. What have gone wrong?
However, I believe not every student is as such...there are many in this college whose attitude I applaud. Now these are the students who really deserve to be here.
Anyway, I do hope such an incident would not happen again...and being under one roof, we should give and take. Especially when we are in an educational institution where we learn to be an better person. So, lecturers and KMM students out there, (or those reading this) whenever you find your students or friends acting inappropriately, make sure you point it out to them and help them to become a better person.
